As I said previously, Virkon S powder has had its Diseases of Poultry Order use reinstated. This means it can be used to clean crates for both Cross Channel and Inland racing.

Virkon S powder now has its diseases of Poultry Order and Avian Influenza and Influenza of avian origin in mammals Order approval reinstated.
Usage rate 1g powder in 150ml water or 8g powder in 1.2L water or 40g powder in 6L water.
There may be a different rate on previously purchased tubs but please use the rates I have given above.
If you want to use Virkon S to reduce the likelihood of salmonella or paratyphoid contamination then use it at a rate of 1g powder in 75 ml water or 40g in 3L water.
Virkon S, following further tests, has had its General Orders approval reinstated.
It is still NOT APPROVED under the Diseases of Poultry Order. I am sure that it is being re-tested but until approval confirmation is received it cannot be used to disinfect against Newcastle disease, Pigeon paramyxovirus or Avian Influenza.
There are suitable iodine based disinfectants but please remember they usually have a tendency to discolour everything yellow, especially if it was originally white.
