{"id":311,"date":"2026-01-09T22:45:55","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T22:45:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pigeon.vet\/?p=311"},"modified":"2026-01-09T22:45:55","modified_gmt":"2026-01-09T22:45:55","slug":"virtual-loft-visits-situation-as-of-january-9th-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pigeon.vet\/?p=311","title":{"rendered":"Virtual Loft Visits &#8211; situation as of January 9th, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Are Virtual Loft Visits permissible for Cross Channel Racing?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Answer:<\/strong> NO<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If the fancier has had a virtual loft visit will he or she be able to race across the Channel?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Answer:<\/strong> NO<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Comment:<\/strong> I have checked with my governing body and my insurers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have been told that should I complete the Export Health Certificate and one or more fanciers have had a virtual and not in person loft visit then this constitutes false certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The result would be that at the very least my Official Veterinary Surgeon status would be removed and at worst I would be struck off the Veterinary Register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Result:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I now need confirmation that all fanciers entering a race have had an in person loft visit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Having to check whether fanciers have or have not had virtual visits will make more work for those organisations that race across the Channel. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any fancier who has had a virtual visit will be refused entry into the race.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each organisation will now have to supply me with the names of the veterinary practices doing loft visits for their members.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Action:<\/strong> I will be requesting a statement from each veterinary surgeon or practice that undertakes loft visits confirming that all have been done in person.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are Virtual Loft Visits permissible for Cross Channel Racing?
