Do I need a new CPH number?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Answer: Most likely YES. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) on 03000 200 301 for establishments in England or<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rural Payments Wales (RPW) Online via Manage My CPH for establishments in Wales<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"bppb-heading-anchor-1\"><\/span>I am not going to race across the channel in the coming season. what must I do?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Answer: Contact the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) on 03000 200 301 for establishments in England or<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rural Payments Wales (RPW) Online via Manage My CPH for establishments in Wales and tell them you are not racing across the Channel (excludes races from Guernsey).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you sign the Owners Declaration (correctly known as <a>Racing pigeon establishment operator declaration for the movement of racing pigeons to the EU or Northern Ireland for immediate release for racing back to Great Britain<\/a>) you have agreed to the following irrespective of whether you actually race across the Channel or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I agree the establishment will be registered with a veterinary practice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I agree the establishment will receive at least one visit per year from a veterinarian, which must include an assessment of, and provision of relevant information on, signs of the occurrence of diseases, including the listed diseases referred to in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/eur\/2020\/692\/annex\/I\">Annex I to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020\/692<\/a> and diseases notifiable and reportable in Great Britain which are relevant to captive birds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"bppb-heading-anchor-4\"><\/span>I have been racing North Road. Do I need a new CPH number to race across the Channel?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I would recommend that you telephone the Rural Payments Agency of Defra and tell them you have a CPH number and want to let them know you will be racing across the Channel. I would be surprised if they give you a new number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the number to ring 03000 200 301 and select Rural Payments Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-bright-blue-color\">NEW INFORMATION<\/mark> 19\/03\/2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please make sure you tell them that you want to race across the Channel and use the thislink to apply &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/register-a-racing-pigeon-loft\">https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/register-a-racing-pigeon-loft<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A CPH (County Parish Holding) number with the final four digits beginning with a 9 (e.g. 12\/345\/9xxx) are valid for keeping under 50 birds. Racing pigeons however it is only valid for racing within GB. It is not valid for racing to the EU or Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A CPH with the final four digits beginning with an 8 (e.g. 12\/345\/8xx) is valid for racing pigeons across the channel from the EU and Northern Ireland. Make sure you get a CPH with an &#8220;8&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"bppb-heading-anchor-4\"><\/span>Fancier or club<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I can help the individual fancier <\/strong>sort out their paperwork to comply with the requirements of the loft visit and Owners Declaration, officially known as the APHA Registered Racing Pigeon Establishment Operator Declaration).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"633\" height=\"334\" src=\"https:\/\/pigeon.vet\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pigeon.vet\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image.jpeg 633w, https:\/\/pigeon.vet\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image-300x158.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 633px) 85vw, 633px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Your original County Parish Holding registration letter will look similar to these<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The practice undertakes Annual Loft visits. To keep loft visit fees as low as possible; these are done as a group organised by a local fancier.
